A softswitch is typically used to control connections at the
junction point between circuit and packet networks. A single device
containing both the switching logic and the switching fabric can be
used for this purpose; however, modern technology has led to a
preference for decomposing this device into a Call Agent and a Media
Gateway.
Soft Switch provides both a carrier-class deployment platform and a programmable, standard-based Application Creation Environment (ACE) that allows service providers, ISVs and OEMs to develop and deploy next-generation converged communication services.
- Call support in scores. Maximum platform availability.
- Forward a Call Setup to the specified endpoint directly
- Supports various authentication methods for selectable RAS requests, including H.235 password (MD5 & SHA-1), IP pattern and prefixes matching.
- Supports alternate gatekeepers for redundancy and load balancing.
- Monitor and control the Universal Infotech GK via TCP status port, including registration and call statistics.
- Output CDR (call detail record) to status port for backend billing system. The CDR contains call identifier, calling and called IP, start and end time and call duration.
- SNMP Support.
- Full support services.
- Supports NAT that allows transparent penetration of NAT devices.
- Intelligent call routing.
- Supports multiple endpoints and calls concurrently in both Private and Public Networks
- protocol management.
- Supports H.323 proxy, Soft Switch binding.
- Supports Routing: - Time Based, Load Based, Resource Based (ports), Inter Domain, Least Cost Routing, etc.
- Supports gatekeeper clusters and can act as a directory gatekeeper.
